The Programme
Driving Sky’s reputation as a ‘force for good’, we created Sky Up Academy Studios; an immersive learning experience that places young people centre stage as media creators. Launched in 2012, the programme has already reached over 167,000 young people.
The experience has been designed to help tackle the growing digital divide and address social and economic inequalities across communities by unlocking opportunities for those who are most excluded, arming them with key digital literacy skills and opening up routes to creative careers.
Sky Up Academy Studios in Osterley and Livingston give young people the chance to get hands-on with cutting-edge digital technology to create their own content.
Working in small teams, students can take on real-life media roles to create a news report or trailer about a topic that matters to them.
Working alongside Sky’s team of expert ambassadors, they see their ideas come to life on the big screen in just a few hours.
A visit to Sky Up Academy Studios gives young people between 8-16 years old a VIP peek behind-the-scenes at Sky, help to develop their confidence and build essential skills like Creativity, Communication and Collaboration.
